As of August 22nd, I will be unemployed. I have held project positions at the University for the past four years and I can not be renewed any more. Add to that some serious hiring freezes and I am out of luck.

I am beyond tired of holidays where the only thing is done is you meet up with the same group of people to have a meal. The only way to tell the difference between holiday is to look at what is being served. Blech.

Therefore, the children and I celebrated the 4th by learning about our state's history at Old World Wisconsin. They had a parade, old time speeches, greased pole climbing, and cannons shooting off.

I petted an ox, sheep, and calf. We played old children's games and heard great stories. I got very snap happy. There pictures are here. The kids are in color and the exhibits are in black and white.

It was a great way to spend the day and not too expensive. The kids still qualified as kids for pricing ($9 per kid) and I was $16. They allow you to bring in food if you wish, so we brought in sandwiches. We did buy two bottles of water and four cookies. The cookies were fabulous! The water was cold.

There is a tram, but the day required a lot of walking. How the people wearing flip flops were still able to stand is beyond me. Military grade bug spray is mandatory. We sprayed ourselves heavily twice and are still covered in bug bites. Sunscreen depending on the weather. My shoulder got a td bit burned. There are real bathrooms there and pit ones if you want that old time feel.

We covered about 85% of the park. Since it is only 76 miles away, we will go back another time. Maybe in Fall to watch the harvest. I really like doing close to home trips. We left the park an hour before closing (10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and were tired, hungry, and smelly.

I did not get lost in either direction. So there!

I have over $100 in gift cards for Gamestop right now so it is a given that I will buy the new Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days from them. Since I am cheap and hate waiting, of course I will pick it up at the store. What bugs me is that I can't pre-order the strategy guide and pick it up at the store? Gamestop does a discount on guides when you buy them with the game and this isn't a game I wouldn't hesitate about buying the guide for, so why can't I pre-order it to be picked up at the store? I can call close to the release date to have them hold one for me, so what is the difference? This bugs me about 4 times a year. It just seems dumb.

I have ranted and now feel better.

I luckily cam across this on Pop Candy before the girls discovered I never ordered it.

My question is who do you think Archie is going to marry?

Since tv networks are not showing reruns as often and occasionally I still miss an episode or season, I would like a way to watch the episodes from the computer on my tv. I sit in front of a computer all day long and I don't want to at home. Plus watching shows with others is a pain in the ass.

I've looked at a Roku, but that is just for Netflix and Amazon stuff right? My little brain needs answers from a big strong geeky brain.

Please help.

City puts brakes on grass-roots skateboard park

Those damn kids today do nothing.
The youth of America are lazy slobs that don't care about anything except themselves.
Skateboarders are just trouble makers.

Maybe the reason kids don't show their elders respect is because anything the kids do is wrong.

It is exam time at the law school again and I'm trapped in my office with little to do but hand out exams. So I figured I would give everyone an update until my brain empties.

Skater Wannabe came into my room last night to show me the book she got at library time. She brought home her first Neil Gaiman novel!

She picked up since it looked interesting. While reading the bio, she asked if we had the Sandman stuff to read (duh! All in Absolute Edition), but I told her she was still to young to read it. I just think most of it would go over her head.

She has also discover the Arthurian cycle and asked for more. Now if I ever unpack my books, she could read dozens of them.
